How to play & color key

Read the clue, type a five-letter English word, then press Enter. Green means the right letter in the right place; gold means a letter elsewhere in the answer; gray means no remaining match. Repeated letters are counted individually. Guess as often as you need, then continue through five rounds.

Daily resets at midnight New York time. Unlimited offers topic and level filters; Practice removes time pressure and starts with the extra clue. Pausing or hints are noted in your score. Progress stays in this browser when storage is available.

Practice word clues without waiting for tomorrow

One Clue Word Unlimited is the repeat-play version of our free Wordle in 1 alternative. Each set still has five rounds, one five-letter answer per clue, and unlimited guesses. The difference is control over your session: load another set, focus on a topic, or work at a chosen difficulty.

Build a session around what you want to learn

  1. Choose a topic. Use All topics for a mixed set, or select a subject in the filter, such as nature, food or science.
  2. Choose a difficulty. Start with easier clues to learn the feedback, then increase the level. Difficulty describes the clue; it does not change the five-letter answer length.
  3. Load a new five-round set. Read the newly displayed clue before entering your first guess. Changing the pool starts a new session rather than changing the answer underneath an existing guess.
  4. Review before replaying. Check the explanations, total attempts, skips and hints. Then choose another set or send the same set to a friend.

“Unlimited” means there is no daily play cap. The authored puzzle bank is finite, so a long session or a narrow filter can eventually repeat a clue. It does not mean every click produces a newly written puzzle.

A better practice target than speed alone

Try one set with no skips. On the next, aim to reduce guesses while still matching the meaning of every clue. If a repeated letter confuses you, stop and count its green and yellow copies before submitting again. Our word-clue strategy guide explains this with a complete example.
